Notice to terrorists “Terrorists go the other way with your bombs”

Here’s a quick excerpt
Charles Silva says… Normally it is when there is a dangerous situation ahead on a road, that we find a notice saying "double bend - be careful" or "slippery when wet" etc.
I heard this on the talk show of a radio station. The time of the broadcast being 7 a.m only a few would have been listening and therefore, I thought readers should know about it.
"They said that there is a very funny notice on a main road, around Moratuwa these days: ‘Check point ahead 100 m.’"
I think the authorities forgot to add "Terrorists go the other way with your bombs"
Who is the brain behind these government notices, supporting terrorists?
Well he should be offered a Nobel Prize for Donkey Ideas, or has this been done deliberately to ridicule the government?
Over to you, security top brass.

Chicago’s Grant Achatz might win the title of the best chef in America this week, capping a tumultuous 12 months during which he battled oral cancer and saved his tongue and his career. The James Beard Foundation has nominated Grant Achatz, 34, along with four others, Suzanne Goin, Frank Stitt, Jose Andres and Dan Barber, as this year’s outstanding chefs. Achatz, whose reputation as a molecular gastronomist, is the Chef/Owner of arguably one of the best restaurants in the United States. The winner will be announced this weekend at Lincoln Center in New York City.
Alinea Restaurant, opened in Chicago three years ago and is known for Achatz’s inventive techniques and fanciful presentations. When Gourmet Magazine named Alinea the top restaurant in its 2006 List of America’s Best Restaurants, the influential food critic Ruth Reichl praised Achatz and his […]

Hate Crime in Britain?

unknown wrote an interesting post today on
Here’s a quick excerpt
A pair of American Christians, Arthur Cunningham and Joseph Abraham, were accused by police in London of a hate crime after they passed out tracts on the streets of a predominantly Muslim area. A police officer, Naeem Nagutheney, stopped the two, telling them they could not preach there and accused them of a hate crime by trying to convert Muslims to Christianity. He then warned, “If you come back here and get beat up, well, you have been warned.”
Cunningham, an American Baptist missionary, was “dumbfounded that the police seem so nonchalant…This is a free country, and to suggest that we were guilty of a hate crime for spreading God’s word is outrageous.” Abraham, who was born a Muslim in Egypt but became a Christian after moving to the U.S., said of Nagutheney, “He was very intimidating, and it concerns me that somebody holding his views can become a police officer, […]

Albinos Hunted in Tanzania

unknown wrote an interesting post today on
Here’s a quick excerpt
In Tanzania, albinos are being hunted and killed because people think that stealing their body parts will make them rich. As Bill O’Reilly said in his tantrum, “Fucking thing sucks!!” NYT:
Discrimination against albinos is a serious problem throughout sub-Saharan Africa, but recently in Tanzania it has taken a wicked twist: at least 19 albinos, including children, have been killed and mutilated in the past year, victims of what Tanzanian officials say is a growing criminal trade in albino body parts.

Many people in Tanzania - and across Africa, for that matter - believe albinos have magical powers…Tanzanian officials say witch doctors are now marketing albino skin, bones and hair as ingredients in potions that are promised to make people rich.

As the threats have increased, the Tanzanian government has mobilized to protect its albino population, an already beleaguered group whose members are often shunned as outcasts and die of skin cancer before […]

Arabs shocked by Obama speech

Lotsa Arab leaders in the Middle East were miffed by Barackstar’s speech to American pro-Israel lobby AIPAC earlier this week. Barack disappointed many Arabs who felt that he might represent a change in U.S. policy. Take it away, Al:
Obama told the influential annual policy conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Council (Aipac): “Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel and it must remain undivided.”

His comments appalled Palestinians who see occupied East Jerusalem as part of a future Palestinian state.
Saeb Erekat, the chief Palestinian negotiator, told Al Jazeera on Thursday: “This is the worst thing to happen to us since 1967 … he has given ammunition to extremists across the region”…

…”I say to Obama … please stop being more Israeli than the Israelis themselves, leave the Israelis and Palestinians alone to make decisions required for peace.”…

The ancient city of Jerusalem is divided into East and West. Israel captured East Jerusalem […]

Cuba approves free sex-change operations

Viva la operacion! USA Today:

HAVANA (AP) — Cuba has authorized sex-change operations and will offer them free for qualifying citizens, an official said Friday.
The move is the latest in a series of changes implemented by President Raul Castro since he succeeded his elder brother, Fidel, in February…
…The procedure would be available to Cubans for free as part of their country’s health-care system…
…Since becoming Cuba’s first new president in 49 years, the younger Castro has done away with bans that kept most Cubans from owning cellphones in their own names and renting hotel rooms and cars. His government also has decentralized the floundering state agricultural sector, raised pensions for retirees and hiked salaries for some state employees, among other changes.

Makes me wonder if the U.S., if we actually get universal health care, would have a similar provision. I think it’ll take some time.

And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.” Luke 21:1-4
Traveling to different churches in order to share the ministry of Compassion International is one of the best things about being a volunteer advocate. I take pleasure in the diversity of worship, the variety of sermons, but most of all the fellowship with like-minded Christians.
A couple of weeks ago I had the delight of visiting the St Luke’s Lutheran church in beautiful Washington, NJ, which is under the pastorial care of the Reverend Karol Van Wulfen. Pastor Karol’s husband […]

Persecution of Christians in UK?

compassiondave wrote an interesting post today on
Here’s a quick excerpt
As the UK tries to accommodate more and more influence by diverse, minority religions, some question whether the pendulum has swung away from a balance and to the exclusion of Christianity. The Conservative Party of Margaret Thatcher had been widely criticized from the officials of the Church of England for turning a blind eye to the social and spiritual needs to the country. The July Bombings of 2005 seem to have brought new enlightenment of the danger of those who adhere to the dogma of acceptance of all ideals no matter how radical or destructive.
Many British citizens have questioned the spirit of political correctness and tolerance which has caused government to move from neutrality to the overt ostracism of its own church? An article from the Daily Telegraph asks the question:
Is Christianity being discriminated against?

Christianity is being discriminated against by the Government in favour of […]
